![]() The Another Way Montessori Child Development Center is a school within a home, a nurturing and secure setting for children 3-12. All our activities foster a deeper connection to the natural world and animals. The child's personal and academic development is enriched with art, cooking, dance, music; equestrian and skiing skills; living history (Colonial, Frontier, and American Indian) and Spanish.
Another Way was founded in 2004 by Diane Bode, co-author of Child-Centered Skiing: The American Teaching System for Children, published by the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Another Way combines the philosophy and methods of Maria Montessori with the Lakota American Indian spiritual philosophy "We are all related". When focused on the highest good, and guided by spirit, there is always "another way."
Another Way children learn to emotionally ground and be consciously and physically present in the moment. This enables them to fully focus on what is presented. As all children duplicate the models presented by the significant adults in their lives, our staff members are masters in their chosen fields of study. They model respectful attitudes, behaviors and core values in helping develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Another Way connects the child to the Earth as primary teacher and the recognition that service to all Life is essential. An education worthy of the child takes what is best and most noble from civilization and places it in service of the child. The environment and curriculum must inspire passion for excellence, nurture curiosity, imagination and awaken the human spirit of every child. We teach that every pattern affects every other pattern in Nature, or as you will hear often at Another Way, "We are all related," a belief espoused by the Lakota tribe of Native Americans. With a maximum enrollment of 25 students, admissions decisions are weighed on many factors. The greatest emphases are: Are parents deeply committed to sending their child to our school for the long run?
Are parents enrolling their child for the right reasons? Is there is a close match in values at home and at school? Have a question or want to set up an observation?
